You put in my answer in your question. He is the only player that I have heard mentioned. The possability is there due to MLS allowing special exemptions to the salary cap, but I feel top notch players will stay in Europe where the competitions is better and they can improve their games. Our own best players go to Europe for the same reasons.I believe are best hope is superstars whose best days are behind them.

It won't bring high profile players like Zidane but I think some very good players in Europe now will come the US to finish out their careers almost like a farewell tour. I believe it was FC Dallas who almost signed Edgar Davids and NY almost signed Figo. These are players way passed their prime but considered a move. Aitor Karanka from Colorado also played in La Liga with Athletic Bilbao. Good players will come when they're ready to retire but I doubt any international superstars will be joining the MLS anytime soon.

No it wont, The big stars of football (soccer) will always play in the big leagues in Europe and not MLS. Players look at MLS when they are looking to make as much money as possible before they retire from football. Also dont make too much of Beckham coming to The Galaxy as his choice, that descision has been made by his wife Posh Spice.

I think it has a chance to. Unlike players in the past (like Pele), Beckham is not over the hill yet. He's 31, with some football left in him. Also, you could see fellow Real players lobbying for him to return to the roster and his return supposedly saved the manager's job. I think he still has acclaim in Europe right now. Popularity of soccer in US has always been a question mark. But, one has to realize that the population in US is steadily growing more diverse, with a big influx from Central and South America, the population that is very much into soccer.

No, because Europe is where the never-ending money pool is. MLS will go under if they keep trying to sign big names, and the whole nonsense part of it is the fact that MLS isn't going to grow huge in the US. Sure, these signings might boost ticket sales a bit, but as soon as those players retire, MLS is back to square one, just a couple billion dollars short.

Its funny to think that one man can change the whole game but ... there examples tiger woods Micheal Jordan Kobe Bryant , lebron James and i can go on. because of these people each of the sports have in a way obligated players to up their game so yes i think Beckham will help. 1. he will attract ALL his fans @ players will need to play better thus making the league more interesting to watch.

I sure do hope so. Right now American soccer is frowned upon by most people but rightfully so. At the moment, the MLS does not compare to the likes of the Premiership, Spanish Primera, or the Bundesliga (sp). Despite Beckham being older he still is a great player and hopefully this will open doors for others. His popularity alone should raise attendance and tv ratings. It would be nice to see Zidane stop by.
