No, it's not. It's just another day. My partner didn't buy me anything, I didn't buy him anything. He makes me feel special, wanted and loved every day. He helps out round the house, listens to my point of view and helps with my child.
Why should he line the pockets of some great big company with his hard earned cash by buying an overpriced piece of folded paper with some naff kittens and hearts on the front and an extortionately over-priced bunch of roses for 40 quid, that would cost a tenner any other day of the year?
Companies really milk Valentines Day. Restaurants put their prices up, chocolates cost more, it's laughable.
I mean, if you don't normally have time to spend together then it can be a good excuse to have enforced time, but then, what sort of a relationship should have enforced time together?!
Cute for kids/teens and very new couples. Nice prompt for a shy person to make a move, but that's it.
Homemade stuff is great, but even that is not necessary.
Oh, I tell a lie, he bought me a bar of chocolate (supermarket brand) when he did the shopping for me (*he* did the shopping, as he always does - wow, reading this I am really pampered!), but then he always makes sure I am stocked up on chocolate and wine!
And no ladies, I'm not gonna trade him in any time soon, he's mine!
I think it also causes a lot of stress for guys who are with materialistic girls, who will get rid of them if they don't go and do the whole works. Not nice, not pleasant, as is expecting gifts, it's not nice! I don't even expect Christmas gifts, to me Christmas is about family, not how much you can compete with each other.

Yes, I feel valentine's day is too commercialized but I feel it is a special day for a couple especially a couple with children. I enjoy having a quiet candlelight dinner at home with my husband and some fun stuff afterward. Instead of candy have fresh strawberries dipped in cool whip for dessert. Just having time alone with him is the best and forget about all of our troubles and not have to worry about anything else going on in the world.

I don't believe it is very important either.... I just like it because I get to think up something new each year and do it...
I am a very romantic person so this is a great holiday for me....
But no, I'm not really big on it either.... I love my fiance everyday and he knows that... I spend very little but always put a lot of thought into it...

Yes, I think Valentine's Day is important. It is a very commercial holiday, but if you're with someone who isn't very romantic or thoughtful, it is the one day for there not to be an excuse. But I find it more special to be surprised on a non important day.

yes...it is really important to me. made up or not, it's a day to really go overboard and show your spouse how much you love them. yes, everyday should be special, but isn't a holiday to celebrate LOVE cool? We have them to celebrate every other damn thing in the world, shouldn't love be at the top of the list?

No, speaking for myself, I enjoy Valentine's Day, and being able to shower my hubby with a few little extra things, like his favorite dinner, and some extra attention, and I do not require or expect anything extra, his love is more than enough.

Yes v-day is important! I agree that every day should be special, but Valentines day is THE day for love and all things lovely. Women like to feel appreciated, especially on the national day of love.

No, it's totally overrated. If you love someone then you should express it all year long. It doesn't have to be anything expensive, it could be a simple as a word or gesture to show the other person that you appreciate them and that they matter.

Depends on if the girls single or not, i mean me and all my friends are single and we go to the store and theres hearts and stuff everywhere, its actually really depressing, I think it would be different if i had someone to spend it with.
