I am currently with BT Yahoo for Broadband, but I want to change to another provider which is cheaper. I wanta provider that accepts direct debit instead of BT with a bill every 3 months. Who are you with and how much a month? Also I heard on the news today that changing broadband is now easier as the companies have to provide a mac address within 5 days istead of delaying, if I was to change my broadband provider how would I do this? Would I phone BT Yahoo and instead of just cancealing, ask them for a mac address also and just ring up another provider and gave them the mac address? Are there any price comparsion sites?

I dont want wireless as my PC is old (98/99) and please don't say get a new PC cause I can't be bothered it does what I want it to do I'm happy.

I would suggest visiting ThinkBroadband - formerly known as Adslguide (http://www.thinkbroadband.com) which maintains a list of providers (where users can rate each service) as well as some extremely helpful forums - helpful if you need technical support as well for various broadband related issues.

Anyway, back to which provider - I'm currently with Be - who used to do 3 monthly bills I believe, but now do monthly direct debit bills instead. I just answered another question about moving from BT, and according to their website (under Customer Help) , you can call 0800 800 150. Be's website says they'll need the MAC code to start migration so there will be a bit of a gap where you probably won't have any internet access.

you could check http://www.uswitch.com/Broadband/
yeah all u would need to do is contact bt yahoo for the mac give that to the new isp, since that speeds things up a lot..
since if you choose to cancel that can take about 15-30 days then about 10 days to get the new isp connection.
with the mac is done within about 3 days.

well as for my isp i work for telewest blueyonder which is now virginmedia, ive got two 10mb connections running into my house with a cost of £3 per month.

Orange is very good (Ex Wanadoo and Freeserve) it is £17.99 for 8.1Mbps speed. just phone you current provider for your MAC Code. and select your new provider and pass the MAC code to him. I would steer clear of AOL. I am also hearing bad vibes about SKY. A WORD OF WARNING YOU CAN GET BUMPED OFF WITHOUT WARNING FROM YOUR CURRENT PROVIDER. This means you can loose all your Favourites, Contacts and saved E-Mails. Make a paper and electronic copy of whatever you need to keep before you sever your ties with your current provider.

I am presently with tiscali.co.uk they have been reliable and do direct debit.

but i am now changing over to toucan.co.uk as they look like a better deal for me.

Check out on line isp providers for your area and just sign up with one and they will do the rest for you OK,

you may have to phone your present isp provider for the mac code and they will send it to you within 4/5 days.

hope this helps mate !!!

I'm on Talk Talk international. They give upto 8mg free broadband
and phone including all landline phone calls including most international calls for £25.00 a month. I have been with them for about 8 months and they have been very reliable.

Hmmm, that is the regulation that you need to get a mac code once you want it, regardless when you're in settlement with them or no longer, You definitly want a mac code wether you're utilising community loop unbundling or no longer, The code supply yet another isp (e.g. Sky or o2) to flow your line to their connection without cancelling your service and reordering it with yet another service. so that you nonetheless want a mac code, in case you nonetheless want to change.
