Here's the story, last night I pulled the wiper off of my windshield, and it froze to the windshield, it stayed there... i went to school this morning and recieved a $20 ticket underneath that wiper... the ticket was frozen to the ice underneath the wiper, so i have evidence that the $8 wiper could have been broken by the meter maid.... is it worth it? how much paperwork is it? .... and can I get more than just the price of the wiper... how would you go about handling this situation??

I'll take pictures and put them on the web in a minute

I think you might want to just let it go. 8 bills, even if you get reimbursed for it, isn't going to cover the ticket. And I've the sneaky suspicion that there's a clause about that sort of stuff in city code. The meter maid is probably not responsible for any damage incurred during a citation.

Yes, you should file a claim. Let the law reimburse you at least for the wiper, it will help pay for the ticket. Not much paper work to it, just go to the police station and tell them what happened.

Don't bother filing an insurance claim, they won't do anything since it's less than your deductible. Call the police, or better yet, just go to the police station and file a report. They're not going to come out in this weather to take a report with all the weather related accidents, etc they're having to deal with right now.

Even if you were to "win", your time, effort, and likely money spent to get reimbursed will not be worth it. Spend the money, and just buy a new wiper.

Even if you could prove your case and, most states do not provide for compensation for the time you take off from work to come to court. You need to let this thing go.

Don't bother. The time and effort involved are not worth the $8.

file a claim.. they broke it.

her/his name should be on the ticket as issuer.

the city should pay for it's mistakes.. since they make you pay.

Forgive and forget this one man. You'll feel really stupid after this one, win or lose. Let it go.
