We burn wood in a furnace that is hooked up to our central air/ht system. One of my children is asthmatic and I would like to know if the heat from the furncace will kill the mold or release it into the air. It goes through the filter system before it reaches the household air. Do I need a special filter? I've heard black mold can be toxic to people, so Will it be incernated or released? Thank you for your help...

It's on the wood itself.

Yes, a wood burning furnace will kill black mold on logs. Generally in a furnace there is a heat exchanger so that the air that is heated is separate from the air that is circulated. we became asthmatic from the smoke of the 2 wood stoves that we used and now have moved south where it is warmer.

If u can get to the mold spray it with strong Clorox water. About 4 to 1 .The ash of wood is like lie or strong caustic. In old times they would take the ash from burning wood . Save it for a good batch of several pounds ,and when they killed the pig ,render it and they took the ash and dissolved it in water and strained it. When the lie was boiled to concentrate it . To measure the lie strength take a chicken feather and dip it in the solution and pull it through your fingers . if most of the feather parts came off it was just right, and it was time to mix in the pig fat. This would make lie soap.

I'm thinkin' where do you get black mold? I had some ,it practically choked me to death til I noticed the roof was leaking on one side and had rotted some books on a wallshelf. It's not leaking now,as it was patched .I had cleaned up the mold myself and made sure there was nothing there to rot with the leaking water.Black mold must come from the condensation of moisture building up,or leaking water or something. If it's deep inside somewhere,it might be hard to get rid of,because it has to be eradicated,it don't go away without wiping,removing-esp. if it keeps growing back.Maybe your hookup is crooked/not healthy?

That depends upon where the black mold is.
If it is growing on your walls or in your carpets, aired heated by burning wood will be useless at normal room temperatures.
