It depends on what part of the country you live in. Also, it is very expensive to maintain a decent standard of living. There is much opportunity but there is also so much greed one has to be careful.
There are different priorities here and so things that are expensive in some countries might be cheap here, and vice versa.
Research the area you wish to live in and compare the standard of living. In some areas you won't need a car, and in some you have to have a car to be able to function. In some areas you might not be able to rent an apartment for less than $1000 a month, and in some areas you could buy a house with payments of less than $500 a month.
All in all, I love where I live and wouldn't live anywhere else...and that includes anywhere else in America. We have a diverse culture and a low cost of living here, along with 4 seasons and many trees and agriculture. I wouldn't live in a large city for anything in the world, it is too difficult to get ahead financially.

America is a very diverse country with many cultures and languages. Some parts of America you will find that only English is spoken well. Those places are usually called "hick towns." You might feel well accustomed in cities like San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York City, Chicago etc. The United States is the best country to live in because you can go from being a vagabond to being a millionaire just by working hard. I knew this Russian family that came to the US with $5 and a bottle of vodka. They now make lots of money ($100,000 or more per year) and are very happy. America is full of possibilities, that's why everyone wants to come here.

Depends on where you are, which State etc. The weather is good, most States get a good summer, others have all 4 seasons. You get more for your money house wise, depending on where you live and there are lots of different places to eat out to fit all kinds of budgets. Lots of food varieties too, Italian, Spanish, Chinese, not forgetting the all American Burger. Lots of salad bars with amazing choices and the food is cheaper than the UK. Most import you do have more crime out there but they also have cheaper taxes. It's a huge place and can take you many hours if not days to travel from one state to another!

I suppose you asked, because every other person from every other country is trying to get into America, legally or illegally.
Like many other countries, rich people, poor people, hard work, get college degree. I have visited many countries and enjoy the people and the culture but America is where I live and I am so blessed because of our freedoms and opportunities to succeed.
We are also a melting pot of nationalities, so we are not isolated from different cultures.

I love it so much, I wouldn't mind if I NEVER got to travel abroad. There are plenty of places to visit here, and plenty of places here that I have not visited, yet. I am very blessed to have been born here. I do appreciate what I have here.
**EDIT** If you measure happiness by wealth, I will tell you now, I qualify as "poor," since I am waay below the poverty line (am on a relative's computer, right now)... nonetheless, my quality of life is great, and I have everything I need... not necessarily everything I WANT, but even that is within reach, if I put my mind to it.
As to the poor here, there are countless many, myself included, who volunteer in their communities to help those less fortunate... even though some of those less fortunate than me are in the same place, financially...
The media lines its pockets with bad news. The good news, which is usually more carefully concealed, is that there are many caring citizens in the U.S. (as in other countries, I am sure) who work hard at helping the poorer citizens in our communities.

My boyfriend has been in America for 4 years now. He says that in America, it's all work, work, work. If you don't have the skills to get a high paying job, you will need to work very hard to pay the bills. Although I believe there are bountiful opportunities here. Anyone with a will to succeed will flourish.

Wonderful country. Freedom, greater child care, and less discrimination place in the world. It depends on which states you live.
