If you want really cheap accommodations, try Saigon Beach Resort, beachfront and very private, near the old Boat Station 3. Their phone number is 63-36-288-3203. This is almost peak season so get a reservation before you go. Saigon has nothing fancy, just a room with either fan or airconditioning, but it's quiet and private, and the staff are very friendly.

Just a stone's throw away from Saigon is the Pahar Terrace Restaurant & Resort, which also houses a dive club on the first floor. Their number is 63-36-288-5156.

I hope this helps. Please post again if you need more information. We are in Boracay once a year and really love it there. You will, too.

Boracay is a pretty crappy, crowded, overdeveloped and overrated mass tourism place (and I mean really for the masses). Having said that, Saigon is a decent reasonably priced place to stay near boat station 3. I think the dive shops and dive sites (bo-ring) are pretty much the same.

Most of the food on the island is very expensive and average at best. Beer is 2x as expensive as it should be too in most places.

I hate mass tourism and vendors, so I hate Boracay, but the best dive shop on the island has to be Çalypso Diving' right next to the main tourist arcade/info place

I can recommend Boracay Surfside. They have their own diveshop and located at station 3. Its a beachfront resort. This month till May, resorts are in high season so its better you book as early as possible. Try to contact JLT Travel & Tours to help you arrange your tour. their number is (632) 3657602 or 3631139. for further assistance, pls check my profile.

Dave's Straw Hat Inn is generally considered the best - and it's cheap. Book direct with him rather than through a travel agency - it's the cheapest way of doing it, and guarantees a room, unlike travel agencies.

Dive shops can be found all up the beach. The first one you come to after leaving Dave's is good.
