Only the one who created the world knows this. To him time has no meaning. It could last for millions of years yet or even only a day. We are supposed to go on living our life and not worry about this. When we die our life here has ended although i do not believe our spirit has. Don't worry everyday about what may happen tomorrow just live today.

No, no one knows. Followers of dispensationalism, a way of interpreting the Bible based on the visions of a 13-year-old 19th century English girl, think they do, think the second coming is at hand. But Jesus said in Matthew that no one knows the day or the hour but his father. He said in Thomas that the kingdom of God is already spread out on the earth, but men do not see it. Perhaps it's a metaphor for our own individual death.

Just because the world ends for humanity doesn't mean that insects, for example, can't still live on it. That said, I doubt that the world is going to end anytime soon. It's a big planet.

The world will never end. It is mans existence that IS coming to and end. Nature naturally cleanses itself. We determine how violent that course will be. Right now I would say it doesn't look good.
