If the point of a green screen is it has to be a solid colour, why can't the green/blue screen be any colour?
Just wondering...

It is opposite to most flesh tones and eye colors so it does not effect the overlay of video on the background used. No blending or bleeding occurs.

it can only be a green or blue screen because those are the only colours not present in the pigment of a persons skin

Green, owing to its color, is a very easy color to interrupt and override, far easier than blue.

If you every saw Drew Carey's Green Screen show, you can see how easy it was to accomplish
