I have made many aquariums over the years. The best product for sealing them is pure silicone sealant. You can get this from Walmart or similar stores. Be very sure you are getting 100% pure silicone with no tints, colors or fungicide in it. All those are dangerous to your fish. Unless you have a really special application and need a really strange size, it's usually cheaper to buy a premade tank.
Hope this helps

Aquarium Silicon. Walmart used to carry it in the paint section but I am not sure if they still do. You really want to get a MARINE or Water silicon to keep a good water proof seal. Not all silicon sealers are water proof.
Basically you cut the end of the tube and starting in the corner of your aquarium run a bead of sealer down the crack (where the glass meets) Using your finger go over the bead flatening and pushing the silicon into the corner. If the bead of silicon isn't heavy enough try again. You want to get a minimum of 1/4 inch either side of the glass. Allow to dry completely. If you notice any "holes" fill in the holes the same way and let dry. fill and check for leaks.

Go to your local hardware store and buy some silicon glue that's water proof its clear too, most important things is the type of glass your using and what size the tank is gonna be, go to a glass store and have them check if the glass is strong enough to hold water pressure the glue is pretty easy to find.

You would seal it with a silicone sealant such as Aquaseal (available from any good pet shop) edge to edge. You need to take the time to do a good bonding job and use framing clamps to hold it until dry. Good Luck!

If i was you i wouldn't even try to seal it.There is a special glue what is 100% water proof and will 100% seal anything together.Sounds good, but you can only get this stuff if you have a licence [you have to caught!] If you know a builder he/she could try to sneak you some. That is probably the only way!If you try to seal it with anything else it wont work,or it will at first then start to leak. this stuff is called CLEON glue

Silicon, it is the best option if you don't want leaks, not to mention, its what standard store-bought aquariums are sealed with.

It's not exactly a "slang" word, but my friends and I made up several different words that definitely aren't in the dictionary: Yebejeez! Mmmmbasicly (and yes, basically is correctly spelled with the "cally", but we have to spell it with "icly" when we write it. Strange, I know).

Fish tank sillicon - it doesn't have the fugaside in it that bathroom silicon has and so doesn't kill all the fish

I'm guessing silicone. It bonds and can stretch to cold and hot weather and it's waterproof. Just makes sense.
