I'm very interested in this (for personal reasons) - I have been told multiple times by multiple sources that I am pretty, and yet when I have pictures taken, I look weird. I don't know what it is. I always look okay in the mirror, but for some reason, I have NEVER had a good photo. It could have something to do with the fact that I don't know what to do in front of the camera. When I smile (showing teeth), my eyes look huge and I look possessed. When I smile without showing teeth, I look unbalanced and lopsided. When I don't smile, I look like I'm about to kill someone. This results in me not knowing what to do. How can I get rid of this problem?

i have the same problem and because of this, i refuse to take pictures. you might want to try going to a photographer. they know what poses look good and what ones dont.

As a professional photographer friend of my told me, many people do not think they are photogenic because they try to look good for the camera. When he has people come in for photo shoots, he tells them not to smile but to part their lips slightly in a smirk and focus on something behind the camera. By doing so, the face is not dead center, it is angled towards what the person is looking at, and the face is not contorted with a false smile but a more natural smirk that happens more often in real life.

Practice in a mirror. Face away from the mirror and make a face you would make if you were having you pic. taken. Freeze that face and turn around and look in the mirror. See what looks funny to you. Now in the mirror fix it and make a face that you would like to have in the picture. Turn away from the mirror and try and remember what making that face feels like. Let your face go loose, and now facing away from the mirror try and make the face you liked again. Turn around and look in the mirror and see if it looks like. Keep practicing until you get some poses and faces you like. Once you have one face you like, practice another. Then next time you're having your picture taken, focus on making one of the faces you like. It'll take some practice, but you will def. be more photogenic.

it is possible to be pretty but not be photogenic. probably it's the camera you use. i fell the same way to, but for some photos tho'. some pictures look real pretty and others just look like, is that me? no it can't be. dont feel no way, it happens to the best of us.

people dont look completely different in photos than in real life, but cameras often catch you making expressions that arent as pretty as they normally are, and some people just look prettier moving, smiling and talking than they do posing. i hav a really pretty friend who never looks good in pictures.

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." You only see what your mind is predisposed to see. Of course it's possible to be pretty, but not photogenic.
