Our Xbox 360 is about 20 ft away from my modem, through two floors. What would I need to create an efficient wireless network that could hopefully make the 360 or whatever is close to it a Wi-fi port and how much would it cost? Specific products would be helpful

Edit: I'm sorry but I don't have my own laptop yet

Get a standard CAT5 cable and plug it into your 360 and your laptop. Once you're done with that, go into your laptop's network connection settings (click Start, right click My Network Places and click Properties).

Next, select both the LAN (ethernet) connection and the wireless connection. Once both are selected, right click on either one and click Bridge Connections.

Note: Windows sometimes becomes incredibly bitchy with your wireless connection when you do this. However, if all goes well, the bridge should allow for your xbox (and anything else connected to the ethernet port if you happen to connect a switch later on) to connect to the rest of your network via the wireless connection your laptop uses. Your laptop should still be able to go online.

Just make sure to turn the high bandwidth jazz off when playing the 360 online.
