Definately use a Visa card! It was difficult for us to find even somewhere that would take anything else (even then it was in a bank). Most cash points only take Visa. And of course, everything has a 5% charge for using it - nationwide!!

So don't rely on your AE or Mastercard - we never saw anywhere that took them!

I was in mombasa last year, there are a lot of Atm's conveniently located at most hotels, lodges & public places which do take visa and mastercard, i havent seen an american express atm but i think the banks can deal with that.

so long as it has the visa logo you are good to go but before doing this talk to American express because credit companies tend to charge alot of money for transactions done abroad i
