Seriously, I hate Vday. Yes, I never had a girlfriend on my 24, but even if I had, I wouldn't celebrate it. It's naught more but a capitalist sell-out of the idea "love", as christmas is "peace" and Easter is "eggs", and Halloween is "dead".
Why does everyone pay so much attention to it. If I'd ever get someone, I'd tell her I loved her more than once a year, I'll say.

It's only a capitalist holiday if people choose to spend a lot of money on a gift. the point is not to give gifts (which is what every holiday has suddenly turned into) but instead to show love. Of course you should show love everyday. But it's not everyday that you plan a romantic evening just the two of you. Valentine's day allows you to set aside time in your life and just be with the one you care about and love. Sometimes in the busy-ness of life people fail to do.

People change the meaning of the holiday on their own making it all about money, which it is not meant to be.

Telling someone you love them is word. Sharing a gift of love from your heart to the one you love, expresses the emotion of love from your heart.
I don't believe you don't have a girl in your life. Don't you have a mom or grandmother you could share how much you appreciate them.

I agree.. Luckily where I live it's not really celebrated - yet. Actually there is no real 'dating-culture' here either. (We just get drunk and hook up). So I truly hope that there is no foundation for this day to get big and important like it seems to be in the US.

February 14th is however my sister's birthday! :)
