The earth is a spheroid. The radius at the equator is about 20km greater than the radius through the poles. Probably caused by spinning on the polar axis while still molten

Hi. If the Earth were covered with water then it's shape would be a spheroid (or more precisely a Geoid). But we have plates and mountains that make it's actual shape pretty complex. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geoid

The front view is elliptical.
It is shape like a football but more circular.
The scientific term is oblate spheroid.
