yeah ! laxman is my cousin and i will support him ! ... my grievance is not that karthik is selected ahead of laxman but, it is due to sehwag's selection ! i have seen laxman as one of the best Captain for india a team when it was in west indies ! and i had seen laxman scoring a lot in west indian grounds ! if i had been a selector my 15 would have been a little different , here it goes :
ganguly
sachin
rahul
yuvraj
laxman
dhoni
karthik
uthappa
zaheer
agarkar
munaf
kumble
harbajan
ramesh power
sreesanth

think so..... why not? Dinesh Karthik has proven his capabilities with the bat and if you have seen him on the field, he is absolutely electric! And, if you have been following Indian cricket off-late, then you would know that it is because of Dinesh Karthik that we won the Twenty-20 in SA , where he was some 30 odd not-out, and the second match against West Indies, where he made 63 runs in a low scoring match. Even in the last test match against SA, when he was made to open he made 66 and in the second innings, when the team was bowled out for 169, he was 38 not out. SO, Why NOT Dinesh Karthik??? He is the future Mr. Dependable of the team.More over he can be a substitute of Dhroni if situation demands.

By the way, even if he was not chosen, Suresh Raina or Mohammed Kaif or even Ramesh Powar were the other contenders for the WC spot. Certainly, not VVS Laxman...... he's been out of ODI cricket for too long to be chosen.

Dinesh Karthik is 100% better option than VVS Laxman & he is definitely the best player can we depend for no.# 3 position.
But since INDIAN team management's interest is something else more than victory that is why these talented youngsters are not getting any chance to be permanent in the team ruled by group of bafoons.
Gambhir, Uthappa, Karthik all have been performed well for long, but our management is still believing somebody who was in form before 2 years. Sreesanth is the best & agressive bowler India is having now as per all experts & see how he also is being treated.
So dont expect better cricket from our team, since their interest is not teams victory. Dont wonder if they include Kaif also, if Sehwag fails continously (like more than 1 year)...

At this point Karthik is a better choice than Laxman. The way Sehwag is playing maybe Ghambhir, Kaif, or Raina should have been included in the team in place of Sehwag. One thing which goes against Karthik is that he is a wicket-keeper and that spot is already been taken by Dhoni. Besides there are two others who can do the wicket-keeping in case Dhoni gets injured. Uthappa and Dravid can do a temporary wicket-keeping. In this situation Karthik has been selected only on the merit of his batting. Is he that good of a batsman that other youngsters like Kaif and Ghambhir and Kaif can be sidelined? I would have dropped Sehwag and included Ghambhir instead.

Though V.V.S. Laxman is a great batsman with proved ability and record, Dinesh Karthik has been preferred over him due to following reason:
1) He will be a back-up wicket keeper in the event of
non-availability of Dhoni due to injury etc.
2) He is a better fielder as compared to Laxman.
3) He can be more aggressive in batting when situation
demands as compared to Laxman

Well...He proved that it is...
V.V.S. Laxman didnt grab the chances given to him while Dinesh Karthik is infact the indian batsman who guided first victory during their last miserable tour of South Africa.
While Dinesh is an excellent fielder thn Laxman infact his strike rate is better. So yeah...it is...

well the selectors have selected dinesh kaarthick in place of v.v.s laxman because dinesh kaarthick's current form is pretty good and he has the age factor on his side.He is also selected as a backup wicketkeeper for dhoni so he should definately go to the world cup

both of them were given chances karthick grabbed it while laxman let it slip.Laxman lacks the aggresion but during a clooapse he can steady the team.Karthick also is a wicketkeeper so if dhoni is injured he can come in his place. So selection of karthik according to me was right
