The screen is saying anti pollution engine failure or something to that effect and the light is on constantly. Can anyone tell me what this means and what i need to do?

I work for peugeot and that light is telling you that something is wrong with your partical filter which is in your exhaust.
get it to a dealer as no! back street garage will be able to deal with these sort of faults.
its possible it just needs a regeneration.
or somemore fluid
worst case it will need renewed.
DONT want that £650 plus£££££££
