What happens when the land can not sustain the population? Does the society fail and fade into the land that once fed and protected them? If you were the leader of this culture what would you do to help your people survive?

if the land cannot sustain the population then the population will die until the land can sustain them. The only option would be to end their isolation or expand their territory. I would chose to end isolation - ignoring other people's problems does not make them go away and they will eventually make them yours as well.

look at the people of new gueina. these people have been by themselves well since no one can really date. the death and birth rate from people in these tribes pretty much sorts itself out. in fact there was this disease that struck these people. it happened to have been linked to cannbalism. they would have all died out if it were not for the white scientists who went in there and explained to them the root of their problem. they stopped the cannibalism and lived on. china as a society had closed off. hense the great wall of china. as a result you do see over population but hey they were able to survive. same with north korea. they are currently closed off and well you see the effects from that one. if i was the leader of a closed off place i would just follow the laws of the quran!
