Because of the heating nature of microwaves the food heated does not heat evenly. Pets can't blow to cool off food and some pets, especially dogs, don't chew so hot food doesn't just burn the mouth. For our parrots we often cook their food, but not in the microwave, and we make sure it is completely cooled before feeding. Room tempreture not cold, not hot is perfect for pets.

Some people do warm up pet food. I've heard that cats like their food warmed because it smells better.
The thing I would be careful of if you warm up your pet's food is to make sure you don't get it too hot. Just like with a human, very hot food could burn a pet's mouth.

Animals have stomachs different from humans. What is good for us may hurt them. Dogs can eat many things that we can't eat but some of our food hurts them slowly or even quickly.
So you should do some research or ask a vet before giving all kinds of heated food to pets.
I should add that we have given left overs to dogs and they seem to love them. But some foods which we like do hurt dogs so be careful.

Not a problem. My mother does it all the time with her two dogs. It has to be warmed to just the right temperature. yes, they are spoiled.
For my cats, I give them room temperature food. I wouldn't give them food straight from the refrigerator though. Just make sure the food isn't too hot.

When I was little we owned many cats and dogs and when I wanted to warm up my kitty's food my dad told me not too. He said some thing about the stomach working differently then ours and I don't exactly know what will happen but it’s bad for their stomachs.

Just be careful because microwaves don't always cook food evenly. They might bite into a cold piece and then get burnt on next piece.

I always heat up "treat food" like canned food for my dogs. They generally eat dry food. I warm it up b/c I wouldn't want to eat cold food either. I also bake them pig-ears and snouts (they're cheap and they LOVE them) that I buy in the meat section at the grocery store.

Animals don't care about having their food heated up, they will eat it out of the garbage and they lick themselves, having their food heated up is not on their mind

There's no reason you can't, just be careful not to feed it to them hot or they could burn their tongues.
