I am not sure of the splines, but you can replace the tranny with a 350 and the drive shaft will fit. The cross member sometimes uses different holes into the frame though. I have used the same drive shaft when changing from the old 200's to 350's and 700R4's. I have run into a drive shaft problem when trying to use one of the short shaft trannys, like out of an El Camino.

I own a transmission shop, and work on them all the time, and I have no idea how many are on them. One would have to count them, but I would say 30 is a good number, but I would be guessing unless I just had one handy to look at. Why would you want to know this? Seems to me this question needs to be rephrased into what you are trying to do. Example: will a transmission out of a GMC work in my Olds? If I had one laying around the shop, I would go count them, but I don't, sorry! It does sound like you need to ask another question in order to get to the answer that will in fact help you.
Glad to help out, Good Luck!!!
