Men don't take hints very well, I know it would be so nice if they could think up things on their own, but if you are waiting for that, good luck.
Before you yell or get mad at him, tell him what you want, tell him what to do in a nice way. Say you know I would really like jewelry this year for valentines day and this is what I want, then take a picture of it and tape it to the fridge, put it on his steering wheel, etc. It may not be romantic for you but hopefully after a year or two with all the holidays we have he will finally get it.

My father is like that too. Just don't buy him nothing either. Kick you kids in the butts for being mooches too. Buy yourself a dozen roses, who says you have to wait for him to treat you to them or treat yourself to a facial at the salon.

Possibly. Maybe it's not so much you don't get anything, but that it might seem like every other day. Since it doesn't seem special or fantastic, you don't like it.
