DO NOT BUY FROM PETLAND... please what ever you do, join in my fight against PETLAND... for 9 years my shelter and friends have been trying to stop PETLAND and have them change there practices... They are a Puppymill buyer, 85% of there puppies are boughten and supplied by puppymill producers out of Missouri, Alabama, Lousiana, and Pennsylvania. They are know to sell, purbreds that are not purebred with bogus papers, they have sold dogs with parvo, distemper, and Canine herpes virus and these dogs cost anywhere from 350 to 1000$. They have been know to withhold vaccination records and pretend to lose them in the mail, because they have NONE. Most of there dogs are from parents that have been bred from first heat and bred from every single heat they go into, the parents are kept in filthy conditions, barely fed and watered, and never been seen by a vet in there entire life. One complaintant was told she was buying a purbred 5 month old, Poodle. When she paid the 600$ for the dog, (she felt bad for it, it look sick and malnourished) she took it straight to the vet, after 2500$ vet bill, she was told it was a 2 year old female, Cocker spaniel/Poodle mix (Designer Cock-a-poo) that was pregnant with 5 dead puppies. She had to have a c-section, emergency spay, and had to have an umbilical hernia fixed. The dog had only her canines and 3 molars in her mouth and a heart murmur. That is one case only of Petland quality dogs for sale. Go to reputable breeder of Boxers and pay the same amount of money for a garanteed healthy puppy with good pedigree.
if you dont believe me check out this website about Petland and Puppymills.

I live in WV and our Petland charges way too much. They wanted $750 for Pomeranian mix (can't remember mix part). We took in an abandoned puppy, he turned out to be Pomeranian/Papillon hybrid, 8 months old. Best bet is to either call the pet store or go in person and ask, just be prepared for sticker shock. Here's a thought, save most of your money and adopt one from a local shelter or Boxer rescue league? You can get pure breed boxers there if you call or look around at different shelters. The rescues will have puppies available too. Both these places may do home inspections and background checks. They'll want to know where and how you'll keep the dog while your gone for the day. Having a fenced yard is a great thing to have, a chain tied on cinder blocks is bad. If no fence, get a kennel for good weather when your not home. They may also ask for the vets name you plan on using, so if you don't have one yet, time to find one you can trust. A lot of pet store dogs are mill dogs and can have serious health problems later on. I've given you a site that will link you up with many shelters and rescues. The page is lengthy, but there's a lot of places on it to view. Scroll down to your state, they have about 2 dozen places listed.

Good luck

Probably way too much, I would imagine at least $400 or $500! I always suggest looking at shelters to adopt dogs/puppies. I have adopted 2 stray boxers from the SPCA and it is so rewarding. The dogs are great and I am glad that I can give them a better life than they had before. A lot of shelters even offer a waiting list, and when they get the particular dog in that you want they will give you a call.

Since you have alreadt been informed that pet stores = puppy mills, here is the BEST way to get a healthy, well-bred Boxer: go to www.akc.org & find your closest chapter of the breed's club. Contact members & buy from a breeder that does pertinent testing for the breed on the parent dogs: OFA or Penn Hip certifies against hip dyslpasia, and tests the heart.

Boxers are great dogs: playful, exuberant, happy, silly... they bring such joy to a household! Be sure to enroll in obedience classes & have firm, fair rules to avoid chaos. Good luck!

I live in NW Ohio, and there are a lot of Boxer rescues in Michigan and Ohio. Try looking them up at www.petfinder.com.

Stay AWAY from Petland. They do get their puppies from puppy mills, and the veterinary care they receive while in the pet store is sub-par at best. I made the mistake of buying a puppy from one here (while it was still open), and she came to me with kennel cough and a HORRIBLE upper respiratory infection. I feel as though I rescued her from that terrible place. NEVER AGAIN for me!

Try a rescue organization, or look through the AKC site for a list of reputable breeders.

Buy your boxer puppy from a breeder. Call around to the vets offices in your county, and you should be able to get a couple of names and phone numbers. I have a two year old male boxer who is the smartest, most loving (and hyper) dog I have ever had. I love boxers. I am about to buy a female so that I can breed them in a couple of years. Good luck with your dog. Please do not buy a puppy from a pet store though!!!

I bought my boxer from petland a few years ago. She was around $700 I believe. Never again. Although shes a great dog, she came down with mange, and I've battled it several times. Never buy a dog from petland. They refused to pay any part of her treatment.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://biturl.im/aU7eM

A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

buying from pet stores is dangerous. puppy mills proliferate the industry - and pet stores have to buy from them to have the contsant supply. buying from petstores makes you feel like you are saving one of these puppies from a life behind plexiglass, but in reality you are fueling the fire of the puppy mill industry by pumping more cash in. i personally gaurantee that if you walk into a local shelter you will fall in love with the animals there - who have been abandoned and just want a friend and a family. you can call around and ask about puppies if you specifically want one. And mixed breeds are generally healthier dogs too - the pure breeds are super inbred populations and have lots of health issues.

they probably compete with other pet stores and dog lovers who sell their own dogs. with any breed the pedigree or proof of authenticity raises the price a lot. If they come from a family of show dogs, then they will also be expensive.

So, decide your price range, and pick the cutest puppy at that price more or less.
