I saw on the TV news that NY is stuck in snow.

i reckon it's twice as much as snow in the UK, but twice as less in Canada.

Depends on where you are. I hear that this is the first real snowstorm NY has had this winter.

Here in Atlanta, we've only had snow (actually ice) a handful of times in my 27 years.

Actually there is...check out these maps. The National Snow Analysis page says that 51.8% of the US has snow on the ground right now.

What you probably saw on the news was a result of lake-effect snow, which is confined to a fairly small area around each of the Great Lakes. Check out these links.

The storm they are getting passed through here (Ohio) yesterday. Some spots in Ohio have from 10" to 24" of snow. So They should be getting the brunt of it today/tomorrow.

i live near New York and it's really coming down hard. The snow is coated with a layer of ice that makes it impossible to shovel.
