Well Im not familiar with Chuck Palahnuik. But if you want crazy, quirky, and witty, you should try Don Quixote by Cervantes(im not sure what length your looking for but this is between 900 and 1000 pages).

absolutely quirky and witty---Hitchhikers Guide to the Universe. (forget author - recent movie was atrocious). Ted Dekker's books are also cool but in fast paced psychological thriller sort of way.

I read the perks of being a wallflower.
it's really good, mature though with some parts that are a bit extreme...but an amazing book!

I don't know this author. You might like "The Wind-up Bird Chronicles" by Haruki Murakami.

I think you might like a trilogy by Dean Koontz. The first is entitled Odd Thomas. It's about a guy who sees dead people. This book is like none of his previous ones, I think.
