My bf just found out after 2 months that he was fired from his job. They said he could have 3 months off because he lost his license for those 3 months and then he could go back. He was supposed to get vacation pay and then they said he couldn't get it because he was fired over 2 months ago. But, they never told him he was fired until he called the payroll dept. Can we do anything about this? & what can we do?

He lost his lisence for not having insurance on the car he drove because our other one wouldn't start that day and of course he got caught and we r paying for it. But, his boss told him (he drives a truck) he can come back in 3 months and continue working. He has been there for 6 years now. He called 2 days ago to find out why he never got his pay & that is when they said he was terminated in December. Shouldn't they at least give him a paper or some kind of notification when they done that? He is not the type of person to go off on someone. And I am not angry, just wondering if it is ok to just not tell someone that they r fired & let them go on like they still have a job. No note or paper or phone call or anything to let him know.

when you are fired they are supposed to give you your final check including any final pay, vacation earned and sick pay due when you are fired or within 72 hours if you quit in Calif. he should call the payroll and ask about this and tell them he never received this. There is probably nothing you can do unless you talk to a lawyer but that would probably cost more than the lost vacation unless he had a high paying job. he should file for unemployment until he can find another job and call the employer for the exact date of firing so you can put that on the unemployment papers.

Are you kidding me? Is this a serious question?

He was fired!!! There is nothing you can do about it.

First of all, he lost his license, why would any employer PAY him because he did something to lose his license, second of all, he is probably an at-will employee, which means they can fire you for no reason, even though losing your license is a pretty good reason. Come on! Yeha it sucks that they didn't tell him, or maybe they did and he isn't telling you?

Lets think before we get angry next time.

Job is a Job so firing is normal. If that is the case why not he become his own boss.I teach people and help them to assist in their home based business. This kind of situation is always present.Think about that.

Has he spoken with the boss?
Maybe payroll is confused.
Have him speak directly with the boss.

Working there for 6 years does sound like a reliable worker, but maybe enough was enough?

You're pretty much outta luck. If it is a battle of "he said or she said" and you haven't gotten a paycheck in two months...you are going to lose and kind of appeal.
However, if this is the case, you should be able to file for unemployment.

I don't think there is anything he can do. That sucks for him.
