First off, how dare you call any American "un-American". It's kind of hard to be AN anti-capitalist in this world/country, because everything we do is affected by it. Let me explain how u are oh-so-wrong
Yes, the company is 'just trying to make money and do business', and believe me, that should be the goal of ANY company in ANY type of economy in the world, not just capitalism.
Capitalism is also praised for being a very competitive market. This competition helps out the every-day consumer, because it puts the power in THEIR hands, and no-one else really (in theory at least).
As Technology continues to explode, you are going to see a lot of old businesses start to fail. Due to technology, people can see who is calling them, and aren't going to pick up when they see 'unidentified caller'... they just don't care. Advertisments are everywhere these days, and we can't seem to get away from them, but you can be sure that if i'm sitting/relaxing in my livingroom, enjoying the comfort of my home after a long day of work. I sure as hell ain't gonna be picking up ANY phone for any person who thinks they have the best deal for me today, based on my phone number. You don't know me.... so don't call me.
You wan't people to learn the polite way of telling a telemarketer that they aren't interesting, when we KNOW already how eagerly you are going to push this sale, and how fast your going to talk. You're not going to take a breath for 5 minutes, because if you even give us a brief moment of silence, we're going to kindly say 'no, i'm not interestend' and hang up like you said. I usually just get impatient, because you talk so fast that feel like i'm listening to a script, and just hang up because I find THAT to be rude.
Telemarketing is not the way of the future. That's left for the internet.
**People never liked tele-marketers, and they never will. I think people are now relieved, because they can go onto the internet to find the best deals out there, and THEY search based on THEIR wants, and choose which companies they deal with.
And again on the un-American part. Most people who I deal with over the phone that are trying to help me/ sell to me are from half way around the world. It's so much cheaper for companies to pay people in under-developed companies to talk on the phone, because they have way lower minimum wages.
All of these telemarketing companies are now basing themselves outside the united states.... and tell me.... how is that an "american thing to do".... in my opinion, that's the most un-american thing a capitalistic campany could EVER DO.

If I broke down your door and pinned you to the floor so I could tell you about my new product I want you to buy and you complained, would that make you anti-Capitalist and un-American?
People do not want to be bothered at home on their home phone or fax or computer from people wanting their money. Just because a company wants to sell something to someone does not give them the right to invade a person's property. Just because a company wants to sell something does not mean that it gets to sell something.
If you think that a telemarketer has the right to call someone without explicit invite, then why do you think that person does not have the right to explicitly tell the telemarketer off? I have heard telemarketers claim that their "freedom of speech" is violated when laws against telemarketing are proposed. Yet, these same telemarketers do not want the people they call to have a freedom of speech. You say they are limited to saying only "no i'm not interested" and then hang up. Guess what, they can say a lot more than that. If you have a problem with getting people like this from time to time (or even on every single call) then quit the business. Find something else that you can handle.
I personally regard any telemarketer as a fraudster. To me, anyone that cold calls me is wanting to steal my money. Many people see it that way. There are so many better ways to sell products without alienating customers. The companies that resort to telemarketing are the bottom of the barrel. I would not trust them with any financial decison.

Give me a break. How can that be called anti-American? Unless you are a telemarketer yourself, you can't tell me that you enjoy these frequent calls. I try to be polite when I turn them down, often they just keep talking and I have to hang up. I guess what bothers me about them is their fony politeness and that they read a script in front of them. No honesty at all. That's probably the biggest turn off when it comes to telemarketers. I think there are many other ways to try and sell your product.

If I ever walked into everywhere of worship and heard any cleric make such statements about yet another crew of human beings or my usa as a rule, i might want to face up and stroll out at the moment. i do no longer see how Obama can dis-affiliate himself from something he widely used for 20 years. All i visit assert is this Obama isn't as bright as i presumed he replaced into. are you able to imagine all and sundry who had only reciently graduated from an Ivy League college and holding a regulation degree might want to turn round and enable all and sundry tell him how evil the country is that gave him the chance to attain such fulfillment? that could want to in elementary words advise that Mr. Obama is with out logical idea. i'm appalled by technique of this so called church. if they call once its a job..calling after you say no..its harassment. calling you at inconvient hours of the night, is rude. and being american is having the freedom to dislike the telemarketers and tell them to never call again. that is american. being american is having the right to not be disturbed by someone too lazy to get off the phone and sell their wares. being american is also having the freedom to be anti capitolist and still be american. you my friend seem to have the anti american views

They may work 3rd shift and telemarketers are disturbing their sleep! That doesn't make them un-American, just tired and cranky.
