Then why does it seem like so many people think its OUTRAGEOUS to talk to their kids about LGBT issues at younger ages. Why should we let other school kids teach them what a gay guy (eg.) is? rather then be better parents and teach them about this at a younger age.

I'm not saying that we need to teach this kids to be gay, i'm just saying we can teach them that sometimes people fall in love with people of the same sex, and it's just a natural part of life.

I normally don't call people out like this... but...

FeebleWeazle - I think it's sad that you feel the need to use words such as Fag around your 5 your old. I'm assuming you made it into your late 20's or early 30's already.... I think it's sad that YOU still feel the need to use words like this. I hope you grow up, before your baby turns out to be like you.

Joe D - you're asking me to 'just think' about how it can't be natural. Well, i've 'just thought' about it, and it doesn't seem 'natural' to me that millions of people spread out around the world would claim that they are gay, and be making it up.....

To The annoyed kitty - What is there to warn our kids about? About how many kids end up going through hell in highschool due to being bullied, or constantly reminded about their 'different sexuality' on average 25 times a day.??

we are not borned hating. we are taught it. gay, stright christian, pagan, black or white. open your eyes, heart and mind. let people live and let live. maybe then some day we wont kill some one just because they are different. if you dont like someone or something. dont be around it. but do stand up and out for their god/goddess given right to live their life as they wish.

It's the new reality and responsible parents need to learn to deal with it. Gays are no longer content to be invisible, to ride in the back of the bus. They're more and more a visible, integral part of our society and aren't going to go away.

Good parents probably are already dealing with this issue in a mature, compassionate manner. And bad (or ignorant) parents are just doing what bad (or ignorant) parents do. Preaching to them isn't going to make a difference, I'm afraid.

I completely agree. Although, I must say that when I was that age, and I do remember those slurs, nobody actually knew what they meant. I'm sure the people the kids learned it from did, but I certainly didn't.

I'm encourading people to start buting their children homosexual and heterosexual childrens stories anf fairy tales, instead of ONLY heterosexual. And if you can't find any at the book store, I am working on writing them and they should be out in a couple of years. :)

Because a pervasive element of American culture is this puritanical idea that the topic of sex is nearly taboo. And most straight people (and several gay people) seem to like to make being gay into something "all about sex." Both of these extremes need to change.

Freedom of speech does not trump uncomplicated descentcy, and appreciate. you're loose to disagree with ones existence type, yet to show it in an intimidating, and antagonistic way is uncalled for. whether the guy isn't indignant, or forgives, it is not any longer the example we opt to impart on the subsequent era with reference to interacting with human beings we detect diverse than ourselves.

My kid started telling gay jokes around that time as well. Funny since his Mom left us for another woman.

They grow out of it. You don't need to take any specific action.

It's not natural there is no way you could ever say that it is natural to fall in love with somebody of the same sex. Just think if it was natural then you would be able to reproduce with the same sex you can't though because you are not supposed to do things with the same sex it is not a natural part of life.
