Hi, the reason why many lower/middle class Pakistanis moved to other countries was predominantly down to make money, education and thus a better way of life. As Pakistan was a relatively new country (especially around 30/40 years ago, when there was an influx of Pakistani's in other countries) was down to poor economic activity and many felt that in order to survive they would have to move. The rich stayed in Pakistan, often venturing to Britain for short periods to shop (mainly to Central London).
A majority of Pakistani immigrants are now doing very well in contrast with their 'previous lives', and wealth now becoming ever so more abundant.
HOWEVER, Pakistan has now seen a large amount f wealth in cities like Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore.
From experience, in Islamabad, it is the norm to drive $24,000 cars; (lack of competition in car industry has resulted in high car prices; the same car would be available in Britain for half the price). Palatial mansions are springing up everywhere in Islamabad. It is the norm now in Islamabad to have a maid, cook and driver. The world's 2nd 7 Star hotel is being built here!
Living in the cities is a life of luxury; venture out to the villages and life is completely different. However, Pakistani's living abroad often send back money to those in the village; and life seems to be getting better.
Hope this helps :)

Pakistan is beautiful blend of urban(developed) and rural(developing) cities. Its like any other asian country. People who have work and earn enjoy life and small % of poors don't have any thing. There are lot of miscoceptions about pakistan but its not bad. Law and Order situation is same as0 NY America. By the way America(USU) is on top in Gun related murders and high speed accidents. Pakistan is no where near that mark. So its lot more safe than NY.

It's not the money which makes a country stronger, it's the people who protect their land. Pakistan is a country with all the dynamics of nature.
It has rivers and ocean.
It has mountains and the reverse of it
It has all 4 seasons
The soil is able to generate a wast variety of fruits
The western world would most likely call Pakistan a terrorists' mess, but terrorism still needs to be defined.
Pakistan has population of 160million people, but still waiting to have a leader of "the people's choice".
Situation of rule of law is "safer" than most of the cities of western world. People are highly attached to their religion and indo-pak culture.

From my understanding Pakistan is an impoverished, overpopulated country, with a downright brutal rule of law. Women's rights are far behind anything you can imagine in North America, and gay rights are most likely non-existent.
I imagine some people move here to escape the oppression of such a horrible country, but I'm sure there are others, who, not uncomfortable with Muslim law move here just to make more money.

Why don't you ask someone who has migrated to North America? Many people migrate for better pay, better education for their children and better civic amenities. Some go back to Pakistan when their children are growing up, because they don't want them to be exposed to the permissive culture in America, especially girls.
