If one man has sixteen wives, there must be fifteen men out there with no wives, since the number of males and females born in a community is about the same. What happens to those guys?

There are too many men then - as young boys they are used for work, but those who are not allowed to take wives are run out of the community. Often they are taken by car to another city and just left there.

They are called the "Lost Boys". I am serious.

Now I want to know what you mean polygamist communities are you taking about the US, where polygamy is basically illegal all the states. I know in other countries, were muslems have more then one wife, the max is four, and most have few then that. In India some Hindu men have more, but it is basically illegal, unless you have the agreement of the first wife. In Thailand they have a lot, but women can have more then one husband as well. The point of marriage is to have legimate children. To be honest unless you are rich I think having more then one wife is irresponsible, and that is in countries that allow it. But if you are basing it on populations, generally there are more women then men. Unless it is China, which has a problem with too many men. So ladies if you are looking for a husband there are lots of Chinese.

According to anthropologists and sociologists, many will migrate toward a more target rich environment. Some who might have had a slight predilection towards bisexuality will create same sex relationships, and some will wait for opportunities to arise such as when an older man with several wives dies and puts several women back into play. I only have one wife and one husband so I'm not making that big of a difference.

In one of our local polygamy communities -- a portion of the young men are deemed unworthy of the god and run off and usually left homeless in the local cities. Hence a social problem left for us responsible people to care for.

God can judge these people as it they just killed them off. it really doesn't get much lower then to throw your own sons out of town so you can have some extra women.

In many polygamist societies only the chosen few men are allowed to join. All women are welcome of course.
