I should say first that I'm white. I have a question. How come when I'm around black people, they can say anything they want about how us whites can't jump or play basketball like them or aren't cool and stuff like that. Then if anybody white makes a slight mild comparison that someone white might possibly be able to do something a little better it's like the whole world stopped and suddenly you're this outcast racist?

Please don't call me racist and crap, please just answer the question. I'm not racist.

oh my god, you are such an ignorant bigot! how dare you be an ignorant racist against the african american after what we ignorant white devils have put them through! please get an education, you ignorant person - hardcore liberal

because it's double standards and now since we're all equal, it turns out some are more equal than others - me, with a bit of george orwell's animal farm thrown in.

Advice: if you can't speak your mind freely around people, find a new crowd to be with.

What did the black kid get for christmas?
Your bike.
How do you .... out of a tree ......
etc, etc....

Remember those and about a hundred others like them?
We all grew up with those jokes and off-handed statements.
It's part of our culture.

You are being ultra sensitive and conciously choosing to only see what you want to see. There is racism reserved for minorities that the white majority doesn't even know about.

Of course that is more of a commentary about society - regarding your question specifically, it sounds like you are hanging out with males more dominant that you.

They talk trash - as most males do (particularly during teen years) in an attempt to establish dominance - and you are unable to creatively retort with your own trash talk while respecting the line between just sh^t talk and hate speech.

Maybe you feel if you retorted back with a comment about this person's mother or hygiene habits you would get beat up.
That is not a race issue - it is because you are weaker in stature and he is a jerk if said person resorts to violence.

This isn't a black and white thing!
It's a guy thing!!!

Anyway I take it you are around 15 maybe 16.
That's a tough time but realize these people you are being exposed to are just teenagers. They don't know what they are talking about either. Please try to start listening without jumping to the conclusions. Remove the fear and distrust from your heart and you will experience a new freedom.

Sweetie, to be absolutely honest, I've heard what you're talking about. But, let me say, that you'll find that more blacks are accepting of whites than those who are not. It's strange. Some blacks accept whites before blacks. If you were actually around a black person who said that, he was obviously a rude bigot. Most bigots hold those sorts of views to themselves.

I think that what's important here is that you don't hold the entire black race accountable for the flawed characters of some. Just like I wouldn't do that to you.

There's always going to be idiots - from every race. The best thing to do is just ignore them.

First lets look at what you have said. (Us whites / black people) These can be considered racist in themselves. Not saying that you intended them to be used that way ofcourse, but people in general of all race need to look more at the individual and less at thier coloring. Until then I can offer you no further advice.
