He shows up, hands it to me, I got all excited jumping up and down, then I turn the beautiful teddy bear around and it's MISSING AN EYE! He saw the shocked look on my face,

He apologized, said he noticed it while he was at the check-out line, but didn't want to lose his spot in line!

He "claims" he'll exchange it tomorrow, yeah probably his plan to get it half price .. you think he did this on purpose? to save money?

This is even worse than when men DON'T even read the cards they buy! Last year, he got his grandmother a card that said to my Great-Grandmother, misreading it, thinking he was calling her a great grandmother. Geez, now she must feel really old!

He's got nowhere to go!!! We're both off from work today, and now he's spaced out in front of video games!

Oh, no, he's not 18 by the way, 30!!!

I don't even know what to do!

Please help me, Yahoo peeps, I can't call anyone for advice because he may over hear me. Please help, I'm counting on you!

I meant to express that he was in NO rush, he could have gotten a good one and waited in line again. We have no plans today.

I think it was tacky for him to have told you that he had noticed it while in line! He could have fibbed a bit and acted surprised when you noticed it. Anyway, enjoy the bear, try to be able to laugh about it in the future and don't let it spoil your day. Tell him you're going to make a little black eyepatch and call it a Pirate Bear. :)

He at least remembered to get you something.

Are you sure that he really bought it at the store and that it isn't just an old teddy bear he picked up from a thrift shop? That is not really the point though. If you like the teddy bear then you can just buy two eyes (look on ebay in the doll making section) and replace them. At least he attempted to get you a gift. I'm sure lots of boyfriends/husbands out there convienently "forgot" Valentine's Day. I'm more concerned about him being 30 and not having a job! How long has he been laid off? If a long time, then you need to reconsider if he is the "right" one.

Although your story is unfortunate, you should know by now that it's the thought that counts. He very easily could've gotten out of line and picked out another, double eyed teddy bear but it sounds like he's just a little lazy. (30 + video games + grandma card). How long have you two been together?

Sounds like a sweet guy who makes very thoughtful gestures but you're right, he should have made the effort to get you a perfectly healthy teddy bear.

Hope you guys can patch things up and have a good V Day. :)

Wow, he sounds lazy to me! I don't really think that the missing eye was a ploy to take it back the next day and get it for half price though. He just sounds like hes really lazy! The fact that he's 30 doesn't help his case either. It would be a lot more forgiving if he actually was 18, but 30!

I do agree with the others though, that it was a sweet gesture and it is the thought that counts, and some people aren't getting anything, but come on....at some point he has to grow up and quit being so lazy.

This is just one in a series of eventful disappointments you'll be seeing from your man. Unless you have a nice serious talk with him about the kind of stuff you've just shared, he's not going to change. At this point, use a little counseling, and if he isn't interested in doing that as a couple, go by yourself. You'll have an educated, experienced neutral person to download on, receive practical, effective options for resolutions, and the neutral environment in which to think clearly about what you want to do to increase the quality of your relationship. If you think the Yahoo!ites can help you, imagine what a real counselor can think of.
Counseling isn't an admission of failure, it's just a little tune-up in the areas of empowerment and problem solving. You'd go to a mechanic if it were your car, wouldn't you?
Best wishes in your efforts to enlighten your hubby.

I know you will hear this a million times- but it really is the thought that counts.
Men just aren't wired like us girls, they don't think of stuff we do.
Let the bear issue slip, slip into something sexy and well you know. Take his mind off those vidoe games and you stop worrying about the disabled bear.
If my man shows up with anything besides a card i'll fall over- but my feelings won't be hurt if he even forgets the card. I love him and he loves me.

Life really is too short, to sweat the small stuff. Enjoy Valentines Day, the way it should be enjoyed.

I think you are being a little....childish and materialistic. You know, he didnt even have to give you anything at all. Have you heard of the saying, "its the thought that counts".
I understand you may wanted something perfect, but I would cherish the one-eyed teddy if my boyfriend got it for me. Why? Because it was a gift from him to me. Who cared if it was 1/2 off or he paid$100 for it!
I kinda feel bad for him when he saw the shocked look on your face. You must have hurt his feelings.....and all he was trying to do was make you happy.

Don't be a jerk just because the dam bear's missing an eye doesn't mean he does't love you or whatever. He probablby just wanted to get the hell out of the store. Do you even realize how crowded a store can be on valentine"S day./ Be happy he doesn't dump u and get someone who is more apreciative. Everyone makes mistakes. talk to him
