I'm with you - V day is quite depressing and sooooo annoying. Totally way over the top on the commercialising front - I've said for years that this daft day should be banned.....along with the other two rubbish event day's called Mothers Day and Fathers Day.
Ban all three & I'll be far happier

What's to get depressed about. Isn't there anyone whom you love? Parents, siblings, friends? Valentines Day is about telling the people you care about that you love them. Not just for couples. Are parents still living, if so call them and tell them that you love them. That would make them happy and make you feel better too.

Not depressed, but I can't wait for it to be over. All the online recipes, recipes in the paper, on Food Network, in cooking magazines, are all about V-day and danged chocolate. I can't wait to start getting real menu ideas again.
My husband and I just gave each other cards and said Happy Valentine's Day. Tonight we'll cook together and watch TV just like usual. *shrug*

Well Sparky, I can sympathise, but I had to laugh today when I saw that the Daily Mail was offering a free DVD today and suggested it would make an 'ideal Valentine's present'. Can you imagine the reaction of the lucky recipient of this free gift? It's all a bit daft, ain't it? Keep smiling!

I don't let it depress me. Feck the media. Yes, I am single too, and do my own thing on Valentine's.

You're not the only one, but you're probably one of the few single guys who gets depressed about it. I'm a simple man. I'll be happy if my power is back on when I get home from work.

nope, you're not the only one, in my case though I'm married and I just wish at the least my husband could do is say I Love You on V-day (he's one of those typical husbands women always complain about that forgets birthdays and special occasions like today and christmas when it comes to his wife)
strange, I felt better on this day in the past when I was single even if I had nobody to share it with

Just think how much money you've saved.
Roses, car, meal, taxi, champagne - its a marketing ploy - think nothing of it fella. If you're that bothered and depressed, go down the local pub - treat yourself to a steak and a few pints and have a chat with the locals.

It's purely commercial. Think how many companies make money out of corny sentiment. If you love someone you treat them well all year not just on 14th February.
