I think the first step is to determine where the water is coming from. Does it leak always, or just when it rains? Someone definetly needs to get into the attic and find the leak. Depending on that, you either need a plumber to fix a pipe, or a carpenter to fix the roof. You could do the detective work yourself, or find a handyman, or either a plumber or carpenter can find where the leak is originating. And then, take it from there...
good luck

I am unsure as to whether the leak you are describing is coming from your roof (with todays weather) or from internal plumbing. Are you on the top floor?
If you would like to give me an email I can refer you to either a decent plumber or to a decent handy amn that may be able to help.
If you want to ensure that the leak is pinpointed I offer infra red scanning services which can pinpoint the problem are through the walls or ceilings and minimise the repair afterwords.

Sounds like you need a plumber.
That doesnt sound easy to fix, its hard to find the exact spot of the leak since water can run down pipes and other structures before they actually make it out where you notice it.
You would need to get in the attic /crawlspace above your kitchen first of all.
I would call a professional if you can.

I'm betting it is just leaking in around your sewer vent from the kitchen drain that goes through your roof. This usually only requires a quality caulking job around the pipe. If you can peel the old cracked caulk away first, that is best.

Very temporary fix, you can buy roof tar in cocking tubes from your local hardware store, get you a ladder and climb up on your roof and find the leek and start patching it. Ideally call the repair man, if you have to ask how to then you really shouldnt be doing it as it is dangerous up on your roof.

If it's leaking from the roof you could probably just put some tar over the hole.
