The garbage bag is a perfect synthesis of cosmic and natural events combining forces to foil humanity. God (whichever one you choose) does not want us to feel the supreme satisfaction of whipping the bag open on the first try. He sets his power against our actions, moving Heaven and Earth, to create a miniscule static field that seals the bag tight against all attempts to pry it open. So tight is this field, that just discerning which side is the opening side, and which is the hermetically sealed side requires a divine boon.
We eventually will open the trash bag, but not without first experiencing frustration. Gods can be funny that way.

Its a conspiracy developed by the plastic industry to keep you preoccupied while they develop methods of polluting the environment. While you are standing there trying to figure out which end of the bag to open, they have already dumped millions of gallons of toxic waste into the ocean.

Depends on what brand you buy. The cheap ones are very hard to get open.
