Mr. PS3 Fanboy Link 305 is dead wrong. PS3 cannot play every PS2 and PS1 game ever released. I had a PS3 once, and I sold it out of frustration. None of my 2005- games worked. Then, the Blu Ray DVDs cost like $50 a movie. The actual games cost $70!!!!!!! This is a broken rich man's toy. Wii the people chose Wii and 360. I should have originally. I sold the PS3 on ebay and got a wii and 360 with the money. They both work REALLY well. PS3 is garbage. Please don't buy it. That will only encourage sony to keep selling us garbage. If we boycott them for a while, then they will recall their trashy system.

Well, the PS3 can only play the newer PS2 games. Roughly in the 2006-2007+ area. It holds a different IDP card, which allows it to hold certain memory for previous games on the PS2. Sort of in the way that the later version of Windows (Vista), can't play the older games from the '90s. But, it will be able to play just about every game out in the stores. I would recommend, if your going to get a PS2 game for the PS3, make sure it's a later version or not too old. Also, keep the receipt, in case it doesn't work, so you can get 100% refund guarantee. none! its fully backwards compatable!!!!!!!!! so any ps1 or 2 games work in the ps3!!! thats y i love sony!!!!!!
