When we aren't deploying them all at one time?

active troops will be extended to train these extra troops (the extras were supposed to give the troops a break) and they aren't well equipped, which means we can only deploy a few at a time. was this the great plan to win in Iraq, the 'new direction forward'?

can't think of what additional info is needed, when they aren't all being deployed at the same time, they aren't trained, and they aren't equipped. Those are facts.

It's not going to help at all. First of all,it isn't enough, and secondly, most people wouldn't want to see more troops deployed. It's time we made Iraq stand on its own.

A troop surge hasn't worked any other time they have tried it why would I believe it would work this time. But, even though I don't support the war we are there so we have to do something to try and get it undercontrol, but the way they are going about it is all wrong. You can't drop bombs and shoot people and then ask them to be peaceful. the Iraqi government needs to stand on their own and take their country back but they can't do that so the only thing we can do is drop more bombs and loose more troops there is no chance for a "win" in Iraq, Iraq will be a breeding place for terrorists and violence for decades to come and we can all think Bush's war on terror for making us less safe than we were before.

From all reports this troop surge is temporary. Actually if you go by the current levels of troops there now, this surge will still be less than the the high of 160,000 troops we've had there in the past. This plan was not pulled out of thin air and the decisions weren't made in a vacuum, so let's see what happens here. I suspect there are no military strategist on this board, nor anyone who in privy to all the issues.

It will have absolutely zero affect. The definition of stupidity is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting different results. This has been done before, are you listening Bush?!! We are not fighting terrorism we are referring a religious civil war.
