Not everyone hates it including me. What's wrong with celebrating love? Come on, do you believe there's too much love in the world? Look up the real reason for St. Valentine's Day. If people are in love or do love someone it's a fun day to remind your special guy, gal or whoever that they're cared about.

I'll tell you why I dislike it. People get so hyped up about "oh, it's a holiday!" you should be loving your special someone ANY day, not just v-day. People give out a lot of junk bout how holidays make the day special, and, in a latent sense, protect us from heart ache. Uh, sorry but february 14th is as special as June 9th. Three years ago yesterday I went to my German class and saw my best friend for the first time in 2 months. When I asked her where she'd been, her response was "I was at the psych ward. I attempted suicide." The rest of the year was hell trying to keep her alive, but that night, while most of my other friends were hanging out at the 9th grade Dance, I stayed home and bawled and bawled and bawled. Nothing is special about V-day. And that's what I hate about it. it's all just hype.

It's really not about love anymore. It's an annoying Hallmark Holiday to make money for chocolate and card companies.
I don't hate it, I just think it's a bit overdone. And I also think it is extremely sad that a great majority of people use this "holiday" as THE day to show their love to their significant other. I choose to show my love EVERYday, so V-Day is really just another day. We don't do anything nuts for it, we got each other cards, and I'm making a nice dinner. Then we'll watch Lost. :)

Not everybody hates it. Why wouldn't you enjoy it? Love is all that matters. It doesn't matter whether you're in a relationship or not. Today is also the day to express your love of family, friends or even yourself. Go out and pamper yourself. It will make you feel better.

well Valentines day has been geared for lovers sense they marked on the calendar, pity? Yes! because where i sit its not about My lover and me its about all that I love I don't just get my man a gift I get my mom and dad and sisters and brother in laws and nieces and nephews gifts ... my friends and co workers... Why? because no one should feel that this day is aw full they should feel this is a day of love not just a day of lovers.. understand? Valentines day should not be misery for anyone because everyone has someone that loves them!! think about it! cause someone loves you too... and why this day... because the world gets to fast paced and this day makes us stop and thank those that have loved us threw the year. Instead of sitting there being all Hum Bug about it call up your mom and thank her for unconditional love threw all the years.

It's a holiday about commercialism.
Buy a card/flowers/chocolate... show them you care once a year.
Those who love others do it all year, they don't need a special day for it.
Those who do not have someone else in their life don't want to be reminded.

I'm with you I hate V-day my daddy past on this day. It's a very sad day for me and my family. I was up a midnight and my boyfriend said Happy V-day and I started crying and I couldn't sleep. He said he was sorry he forgot. I hate telling my poor Mom Happy V-day. Because all she does is cry all day. And breaks my heart to see her that way. The whole family visits the cemetery together and we take my daddy his favorite Red Roses. I sure miss him he was my Hero. He was the BEST DADDY. I LOVE YOU. Until were together again.

because love is the one thing worth living for and fighting for. it can heal people and save people. love is one of the purest thing on earth and it deserves a holiday. you dont need a man or a girl to celibrate love, celebrate the love you have for you family or pets but who ever you love or what ever now is the time to remember why you love them and let them know. every one should feel special at one point today i think that is worth celebrating.

I enjoy it! I'm in love with love and always have been.
Even in the years when I didn't have someone, I'd give flowers and candy to my friends and family. I love to celebrate! I don't need a reason, just an excuse ;-)
