You should ask your doctor. I am a marshall (flagger) in the states & have flagged at F1 races for over 20 years. My son was barely 1 month old at the 94 Montreal GP, the only one I sat out! We were at the hairpin, & they are off the power there till they get around the turn. I still had my F1 gun muffler ear muffs on him. He didn't startle at the sounds, so I think he was alright.
The amniotic fluids in the sac help muffle sounds a lot, but I wouldn't stand or sit too close to the track even so. If she feels her tummy jump at a loud sound, you are too close.
At 6 months, she may not feel like schlepping around a race track! Find her a nice place to sit, while you schlep a bit!

the baby will hear it, but he's underwater. Go under water yourself , everything is muffled right? At six months I would be more concerned with her climbing the bleachers and staying hydrated in the July heat than the noise of the F1 cars.
Having said that... your own ears are a different matter!
My husband and son go to the F1 in Indianapolis every year. Now that Michael has retired, they will take a few years off as well LOL. Have fun!

The baby isn't normally affected by anything for the first two days, because the fertilized egg does not implant itself into the placenta right away. Once the fertilized egg implants itself, anything you ingest can affect the baby, good or bad. I have read that smoking marijuana CAN affect an unborn baby. To what effect, I don't know. Keep in mind that not all marijuana is equal - some is laced with extra drugs. Also, some is stronger than other kinds. Do you know exactly what kind you were smoking? Were they just pinners or fatties? The real issue here is... if you were smoking two joints a day before the baby was conceived, were you making good life choices in general? Were you making good choices regarding who fathered the child? Are you going to be making good life choices in the future for the benefit of your child? Are you eating greens containing folic acid? Eating from all the food groups, drinking lots of water? Avoiding sugar, etc. etc.

This would have to be a question to ask her OB. I know that they can hear at that point but they are also well protected. Everything that they hear would be muffled by the sac that is around them and also the amniotic fluid. If it's any consolation....I went to a loud fireworks show when I was 7-8 months pregnant and my child has great hearing. I do remember him moving alot when the big ones would go off...but he was fine.

The baby "might" hear something, but should be sheilded from the worst of the sound effects by the amniotic fluid in the placenta. The baby might be more disturbed by the feel of the race (think about it: as the cars go by, you can feel the noise too). Your wife should ask her doctor at her next appointment to be safe.

Yes, it can affect the child. Extremely loud noises can actually disrupt a baby's heartbeat.
I used to go shooting quite often, but quit when I got pregnant. I think a race would not be a great idea.

Babies can hear sound by 4 months, but remember they are in amniotic fluid, so the sounds are muffled. I think she should be okay, but maybe it's a question the doctor might answer better.

she should be fine. we're going to NASCAR at the end of april and I will be 7 months then. she can hear the sound, but what the baby hears is 10 decibels lower than what you hear. ask your doctor just to be sure.
