i guess i should clarify myself a little more. been married for 17 years he never wanted me to work. he was very controlling. and if i could do without his money i would. my rent and bills run around $2000 and thats not including food gas or other necessities. and yes i have always been faithful.i dont go anywhere. he does and comes anywhere from 2 am - 7 am from doing his drugs and alcohol.

You already stated it..."HIS LAWYER"

Go get your own now, you are entitled to half his income as a wife so take your half and find a lawyer of your own and file BEFORE the bankruptcy. I'm not completely sure but if he is paying child support and alimony (which I would ask for at least until you get a good paying job) he may not have to file bankruptcy after all.

If you really want a divorce why are you worring about chil support? Why not just worrying about standing on your own two feet ,that will get under his skin more than having to pay x amount $ every month
just think it over the best revenge is bettering yourself plan it thru and move on

Sounds like you just want to get the most money from him as possible.
Why don't you try and be fair with him instead?
