What sort of jewelry did woman (housewifes ex.) wear in the 50's?

I am in a musical based in the 50's (Damn Yankees) and we were asked to find jewelry to go with our house dresses which would be much easier if I had any idea of what they wore...

Well, pearls have been popular a long time, so a pearl choker would work...also rhinestone jewelry was popular back then, and that would look nice from the audiance...go visit your local goodwill/salvation army store for some cheep chic...

Well I know of a lot of websites that specialize in 1940s & 50s clothing in jewlery but their prices are pretty high. I think the girl who suggested the pearls is right, just wear a strand of pearls. They were popular back then.
