Stop taking the meds right away. You should never stop breastfeeding cold turkey. It takes time and patience. You should only cut out one feeding at a time. This will prevent engorgement in you and the baby will feel better with you too. Call a dr and get a different med for your ear infection and slowly wean breastfeeding. Don't let anyone tell you other wise. Good luck

I know that there is a lot of people who say you shouldn't stop breast feeding cold turkey, but I think that is mostly nonsense for older kids. Your baby already gets lots of food other than breast milk. I found while weaning my 2yo that trying to cut down slowly just was torment for her. She was constantly wondering when she could next have nursing. Cold turkey worked well for her and me so don't be torturing yourself. (if you are trying to wean when they are little and have been getting near 100% of nutrition from you then that is different. For one thing engorgement is a problem.)
I found distraction to be good. Stay away from your favorite nursing spots if possible. I took her outside a lot if it isn't too cold where you are. Dancing to music worked and occasional candies. In many many cultures where babies are weaned at 1, 2, 3yo sudden weaning is the norm not the exception.

i would call your dr and ask for something else. then, i would stop taking the meds and nurse and wait for a new prescription.
weaning cold turkey is not a good thing and can harm your baby. not physically, but emotionally. that's why it's been so difficult.
so. there's your answer. no judgements, just what i would do if i were in your shoes.
a lot of cuddling can help right now, too.

My mom stopped cold turkey with me, but I don't know what measures she went to for comforting me. She didn't believe in pacifiers either, so that wasn't one of the things she used.
I would say cuddle with him during and after feedings. If he's not on a pacifier now, don't start the habit, but a toy or blanket might work for a comfort device.
I mostly wanted to tell you to keep your head up, you'll both get through it.

if thats your decision then no-one can tell you otherwise - the best thing is to be persistant - its going to take a while but as long as you dont give up, your child will be fine
I am assuming you are weaning onto cows milk - as there is no point doing formula to then swap to cows milk.
