To share in lifes big adventures as a partnership.
Some of us truely take our vows to heart and keep them sacred. To be the MRS to my MR is a honor and privledge that i wouldnt trade for the world we take the good the bad and we make it thru it hand and hand and together.

It's the responsible way to create children (and have sex) in the great circle of life. That's what the human race does. Look at the behavior of the bulk of the people in the world -- a man and a women team up and make children.
Now granted in america we're getting a little sidetracked with selling selfishness and irrsponsible sex and forgetting the core human values and needs. But they won't last, we are what we are.
The alien spaceship after studying the human race as a whole will return with this report. The human race is a species that bonds as couples for life to raise children.

It should be because of a deep love and committment to each other. For many it is because of an unplanned pregnancy, desire to get out of their parents home, money, or any of a hundred reasons. That is why there is so much divorce-marriage for the wrong reason or in haste. Marriage should be a lifetime committment and shouldn't be entered into unwisely or hastily.

They get married for any number of reasons - good and bad.
Speaking for us, we got married because we were physically attracted to one another (pretty basic and common thing), and then, through dating we discovered that we had a lot of common interests, and that neither one of us was neurotic or dangerous.
We got along as human beings, the sex was good, so we decided that we made a pretty good couple.
The rest is history...

Because they love eachother and are crazy enough to want commitment whatever that means. I've seen married misery, but I'll take that over not being with the man I love any day!

people get married because their are people who still have moral values and wont shack up with anyone and wait till they find that special someone and after their wedding day then you can have as much sex as you want with that one person you found that Completes you, that loves you as much as you love them, that you know you could never live with out, the one you found that you wan to have there children. I mean the list goes on you can call me old fashion that's fine but i didn't give it up till my wedding night and he knew that and felt the same way. more people should be like that. you don't find to many people with values any more and its sad you don't have to "hook up" with some one just because your afraid they will leave you, and to many people are feeling pressured to do that now day.

Good question since no one seems to honor the sacred vows taken during the ceremony. Seems like more people are just "shacking up" rather than tying the knot

I really don't know. The only thing I can think of is because "that's what people do"
I'm 35 and single, have a good job - not missing anything. I can go where I want when I want and with whom I want.

it's sometimes a religious thing, and sometimes it is just the next step, people want to tell the world that they belong to eachother.
i think the spirturality part of it is awsome the ceremony, but having to get it legalized is just paper work to me, a way of the state to keep track of u
