A typical movie cliche... It goes along with the fact that no one ever tells the taxi driver where to go when they get in the cab, the cab just takes off... AND that lightening and thunder happen at the same time in EVERY movie!

This is NOT how Americans typically use the phone! Everyone says good-bye or something similar when they end a phone conversation. I have never seen anyone just hang up as they do in the movies unless they were really angry! And that is rare.
I have wondered for a long time why movies and TV shows just have them hang up on people. I guess they think it is more dramatic. In fact, I agree with others that it just looks rude. It also makes the movie directors look oblivious to the real world.

Because it is a movie! Most people I know and I say 'Goodbye' or 'Thank you' or some equivalent like that depending on what's appropriate to the conversation. And if I'm talking to a family member, I usually say, 'I love you.'
Do you think Americans should think foreign films accurately portray day to day life in the country were they were produced? I don't and I doubt other do either.
Public cursing has become more prevalent in recent years - I've called people down for it. But that is due to the Hip Hop generation more than movies.
Don't be so literal in your interpretations.

i come across that unusual. i don't be conscious of anyone ( different then in movies) who do no longer say see you later whilst they postpone. although, I even have executed it a pair cases whilst a telemarketer calls me. Are you soliciting issues to the human beings you're calling? possibly they're very busy and don't have the time for a sales chat. yet once you have been having a severe-high quality chat with them and by surprise they hung up without asserting see you later then i might say you in basic terms so got here approximately to locate some nutjobs and you will desire to no longer generalize all individuals in keeping with 6 human beings.

If you don't let her go I will kill you myself!!!!
OK bye!!!! Rather Ace Vetura-ish don't cha think?
Just doesn't sound cool, it would be great to see an edit of some classic movies with "bye bye" added just before they hang up. Could be quite funny

It's a typical movie over site really, shows rudeness. Also has anyone ever noticed, than when driving leisurely the driver rarely keeps his/her eyes on the road for more then a few moments.

well i guess if its a tense or action packed movie saying goodbye would seem soft so the director makes the character rude to try and keep the theme the same.

Where I am from we do not say Good Bye unless you mean that you will never see them again. We say See you Later or Talk to you later, but never Goodbye.
