I`m 50,I want to get better fit,I ask this question in a different catigory but didn`t get any response

50? You aren't old at all! My mom is 51 and we workout everyday together doing kickboxing and step aerobics.

If you are just getting started though and want to get a machine I would suggest an Elliptical Trainer. Unlike a treadmill you won't be slamming your feet down, so it will be easier on the joints and you can also use the handles to get a great upper body workout at the same time.

The elliptical is definitely the way to go. You can adjust the tension as you progress, and it's very kind to the knees and hips.

I spend 30 minutes a day, 4 days a week on one.

Ellipticals are nice if your ankles or knees are kinda banged up, as mine are, but if your ok, a treadmill set on soft to medium incline is very good as well.

I have been told an elliptical is supposed to be good because they are supposed to be low impact.

a recumbent bike. they're low impact. or you could swim. that works like every muscle group.
