Absolutely not.
What it means is that your friends are uncomfortable showing anyone else their true feelings, because they're afraid someone will do to them what they did to you.

No, just a good friend, one I'm sure who'll be greatly missed.
The US is about the only country on earth that discourages any show of affection between friends. Shame on us.
