what he wrote was on it before, and wrote over it! I didn't notice it originally.

I really can't tell what was written on it before, could have been his ex's name, or maybe he had given me this card before and I don't remember it. He wrote it out to my little nick name he gave me.

I know he likes to save money, but isn't this a bit extreme?

What's next, dried out old rose petals next year?

It is so refreshing to hear how much people actually think of Their "loved ones". Seems a pity for You to bother to ask him what actually happened now that you have already told the world what You really think of Your Husband. Just send the card to Forensics and then squeeze the truth out of Him! I wonder if He reads 'Answers' in His spare time? Could be interesting, couldn't it? Look on the bright side, You finally found grounds for that divorce You wanted.
Remind Me once again, what did You get Him for Valentine's Day?

your putting to much thought in it you say he used your nick name maybe he didn't have it down before is the entire card erased or just a small part if your that bent all about an erase spot seems you have more issues going on .. ask him to start feeling out your cards in ink that way no erase marks for you to get bent about and his cheap but have to buy a new one if he messes up again... everyone wins?

Just stick to your first reaction, that it was beautiful. Dont go looking in the ex department. Enjoy your day and dont get stuck on things like this.
hey, even dried out rose petals are romantic ..

ASK HIM. Works much better than trying to imagine what's in his pointed little head.
Maybe he started to write something mushy and got embarrassed.
Give people benefit of the doubt- innocent until proven guilty. If the card turns out to be a re-tread, THEN make him pay.

Maybe after he wrote it the first time he just didn't like how it sounded so he wanted to do it over.

Think on the bright side. Maybe he just made a mistake and erased it.
