Well, in philosophical terms it MIGHT end up making sense to say that the mind doesn't exist physically anywhere, depending on your ideas of consciousness and perception. That said, the mind is usually a function of the brain and/or central nervous system, if it could be considered to exist anywhere then it would definitely exist there.

If you cut off your arm you are still you. If you damage part of your brain sometimes your personality changes, sometimes not.
When you getted knocked out or suffer a seizure you never can account for that time.
I guess noone really knows, but I believe it is a function of the brain,
but probably something on a higher level as well.
Consider this, the natural state of order in the universe is for energy and matter to spread out and become disorganized (in the sense we think of it)
However life has flourished here on earth defying entropy and thriving on, even when it would be much easier to die off. In fact its always easier to die than to live.

The reality of mind has no form but pervades the ten directions. In the eyes it is called seeing, in the ears it is called hearing, in the nose it smells, in the mouth it speaks, in the hand it grips, in the feet it steps. Basically it is a single spiritual light; seeing thus, you are liberated wherever you are.
