and the Who? one of the members of the red hot chili peppers recently was quoted as saying they didnt like to think of themselves as winding up like the Stones, but I thought to myself, I don't think they are even in the same league as the stones. I can't think of any bands that will be quite as respected as these bands are. can anyone suggest any that might? Also, I'm not an old guy going sour grapes, I am 32 and grew up with music from the 80's and 90's but just don't think any of it is in the same league as Stones, Who, Zeppelin. what do others think?

Oh, heck no! The Red Hot Chili Peppers are nowhere near being in the same league as The Stones. I think that Nirvana would have the best shot as being remembered (for lack of a better term) but not so much for the music itself. I'm a big fan of the hair bands and music like that but I can't think of anyone who would end up in the same league as Zeppelin.

I agree that' they're not in the same league, but it's also a different era and unfair to compare. I agree completely with you though that bands won't have the same respect as the almighty Zeppelin or Stones.

U2 from the 80's and Pearl Jam from the 90's are really all I can think of. That's a good question. Nirvana will always be remembered not for their amazing music, but how their sound changed upcoming music.

Jethro Tull...maybe though they started in the 60's and were fairly popular then.
