My Fiance and I are having a discussion regarding the thermostat settings. I am happy to set it at 70 and leave it. Wear more or less clothes as I need. Well he keeps turning it up and this morning it was at 76. I was in lightweight PJ's and absolutely roasting. He is a mail carrier and out in the cold all day. He insists that even at bedtime 4 hours later he is still cold and needs to turn it up. He showers when he gets home and I believe after that he should no longer be cold from work. Also consider I am a warm blooded individual and he typically isn't. What do you all have to say here? Ideas for the thermostat?

He tends to change the thermostat on his way to bed and part of the problem may be that he has removed his glasses and can't see the ticks on the thermostat but he still insists that he's cold.

I usually try to keep mine around 68-70. Right now it's set at 72 and I'm still a little chilled, but then again it is 20 degrees outside. I am usually the hot natured one in my family too. My hubby is always cold and hunting covers, when I'm down to practically nothing and still hot. That's life I guess. We just try to compromise and deal with it the best we can.
It is Valentines Day, why not give him a little heat tonight, then you will both be happy with the temperature in your house! Oh Happy Day!!! LOL

Buy a programmable thermostat. I have mine set to go up to 67 in the morning and then down to 63 when I leave. It turns back on a few hours before I get home and is back to 67. At 10:30 it goes back to 63. I prefer it colder, so those temps work for me. Also, every degree below 70 that you keep your thermostat at will save you about 3% on your heating costs.

I usually keep mine around 65 degrees. Hubby is cold most the time but he doesn't change the thermostat, he will put on sweats and a pair of wool socks. Our body temps are opposite he can be cold and I will be burning up.

I have a hard time with anything above 68. We use an automatic thermostat, set for 68 when we're home and 63 when we're away. Keeps the plants happy, keeps us happy too!

I set it at 60 most of the time, but when I'm home for a day or on weekends I set it at 65. I always wear a jacket or sweater, though. That's what they're for. The humidity in your house also affects comfort, with dry air making you feel colder.

I keep it at the temperature that my electric company says is efficient...76 (heat) for winter and 74 (cold) for summer. My husband and I keep comfortable year around.
Also, I am "cold-natured" while he is "warm-natured".

I like mine set on 72, and my husband deals with it. :)
You might want to change to a digital thermostat, it should be easier for your husband.

wow! we keep ours at 65! 68 is supposedly comfortable room temp, so i keep it a few degrees lower, it really makes a big difference $ wise. i'd rather wear a sweatshirt than pay to keep my heat that high!!!
