When will the rest of the world realize that not everyone in the U.S. are like the people who run our gov?

These days I find that you can hardly read any post or talk to anyone overseas that aren't bashing Americans somehow. I wish the rest of the world would realize that not everyone in our country supports what it is our country is doing. A lot of people hate the administration we have in power, myself included, and yet only HALF of our country voted for them (I know I surely didn't). It seems to me that only 2% of the people in this country hold any real power yet whenever an American goes overseas, (and most of us who do aren't in that 2% category) other people look down their noses at us. In a way it makes me feel insecure about living here but then again it seems that a lot of the people who judge us are just as ignorant as they claim us to be if that is how they act. I know whenever I met someone from another country I don't react with scorn, regardless of what country they are from or the propaganda that has been split about their area. So what's truly up with the hatred?

If you read some of the answers in this post you will realise why the people of the U.S. are sometimes viewed as aggressive or ignorant...
In Europe there are also some ignorance but you dont see anyone going around saying "We are the moral ground for the world" or "We are the world police."
You posed an interesting and balanced question:the governement doesnt allways represent the people of a country but in a Democratic country with free elections the people can be in a way responsible for who they have in power. Bush was not elected by a majority (absentism won)but the majority that did care to vote chose him.The only ones who may complain are the ones who voted for your Democratic party because the ones that didnt bother to vote have to acept that by not making a choice they have to put up with all the bad decisions being made because they bassically allowed it by not voting.The problem is that decisions made by the President of your country affect people worldwide, influencing markets and oil prices which can make or disrupt economies.Because people of other countrys are affected they normally tend to put a lot of blame on the U.S. or their citizents when things go wrong and that is what causes than anti-americanism and bashing that you mentioned in your question...you are right by saying in acting this way the people that judje you are "just as ignorant", so dont be affraid there are still a few of us out here that analise things with a more paused and broader view and dont think "all" Americans are war mongering idiots, but we realise by what we read and see that a quite a few are.There is ignorance everywhere so dont be ashamed of being born in the U.S. and just keep doing things like writting this post and talking to people about how you feel about your country and your own views of the World and you will be doing a god job at preventing prejudice and misconceptions from the less informed people out there.

Oh yeah and Americans don't think they are the greatest nation in the world. Get real the United States is probably the most bigotted nation on earth. You're pledge of allegiance has the words "One nation under god" Basically in a way that sounds like you are the only nation on earth that exists or believes in god. Americans are some of the most arrogant morons on the face of the earth, i find you saying that Europeans think they are the best in the world absolutely hilarious. One thing i do know is that our education system is WAY better than yours. You lot can't even write or speak English properly. You changed the English language by adding a couple of stupid words and changing the spelling of some of them, thinking that this would make you completely different when actually it just makes people realise what stupid illiterate bone heads you really are. Harvard my backside it can't be that good an institution considering most Americans think British is an accent. They don't even know that British is Scottish, English Irish and Welsh. There is no British accent, no such thing. Americans are dumb as f@ck. They only get classed as the best education system because it's the richest country in the world. Not for much longer though, soon China's economy will overthrow yours and you will merely be China's lap dog.

I have been in chat rooms and I see alot of things americans say to people of other countries and religions. There is alot of stupidity in this country, you know what I'm talking about. Surely you have seen some of the rediculous, ignorant, and hateful things that americans say. Not all of us americans feel this way, but the ones that do make sure to put their two cents in whenever possible and seem to be the majority. Have you checked out the Religion and Spiritual section on answers? Unbelieveable. These people are the reason so many countries hate us. Those of us that are decent are outnumbered my friend.

Ya know this question has been asked of recent P.R. people (gov people actually) who are promoting travel to this country NOW. and trying to improve our image. Not 20 years ago, not 10 years ago, NOW because they've noticed it too. One clearly evident fact stood out when they surveyed "the rest of the world". America (that's thegov.) are not Americans (the people). As you so rightly ask in your question "When will the "rest of the world" stop bashing/hating US (the people) and start bashing/hating the gov? They already do. And they realize America vs. Americans are not one in the same. Now it's up to us to get our country back to the right face we want to project to the world. This one is an an ugly, rotten, shrivelled up hag face that needs a facelift.

When you find a better country, MOVE! The USA is the best country on this Earth, it may have some problems but it is by far the best. Our biggest problem is not standing up for what is Right and Wrong. Because when we do, we get the whiny little snots cry foul. While the rest of us decent human beings pay for their frivolity and stupidity.

We are the world's police which would stop if people would behave themselves. Unfortunately posts like yours tell me we need another attack for some to understand the reality of the situation.. Hopefully when it comes, it will kill your loved ones and not mine.

that's never going to change. some people are always going to think that about us. and a lot of people here think like that toward people in other countries. middle eastern people overseas face the same thing that we do. just because their government isn't perfect doesn't mean there's anything wrong with them either. that's just the way the world is. hoping for change is like hoping for world peace.

I agree with almost everything Bush does, so I dont' get your point.
The rest of the world (and I mean Europe) has does some atrocious things in the last decades alone. Yet when we attack Iraq all of a sudden "OMG USA ARE T3h OPPRESSORS IMPERIELISTS!!11!1!1!1!"

forgive my spelling i can think just cant spell thease people have the same problem that alot of us have hade called NOT knowing BETTER beleving what were told and showed 1965 i was7 my dad was in the army so we moved to springlakes north corlina from ky race riouts no dogs or Ns allowed whites only you seen it on tv water hoses dogs biten on people police beatings white people beating people you seen it on tv O I am ablack man i seen the dogs and cops on tv and in the streets but all the people wearnt like that my parents took me to places in town stores cafes toy stores that were white owned no problum i had my share of fights for being called that NAME but most people i met were nice but there was a lot of raciest too but not all people the tv showed something else it was bad but all people dont think the same then we went to germany i found out all the people thair did not like hitler growing up on army post i learned to live with different types of people this is probly not whats that word o ya politicly correct i cant even spell it i dont try to be politcal i speek what i know people in other countrys see what the media showes them just in the us we are not the same just like them i dont know about you but i think if they want to see what the Majorty of USA THINKS AND NOT MANORTY THINKS WATCH LINK get good information then make your mind up i all ways say you cant help the way you was rasied but when you find different then should know better

When will the world learn that no countrys people are the same as the countrys government. The sooner we realise that we are all people with imperfections, and differnces (and can accecpt them) the sooner we can all get along.
